Letter from Angela

As tempting as it is to stay inside during these winter months, I have to say that it’s my favorite time of the year to be in Pike Place Market. It’s much quieter, calmer and relaxed. Vendors are more talkative and spend more time with us, which makes for a more intimate experience.

Valentine’s Day is around the corner! Check out our great Valentine’s Day/weekend tours and fun gift ideas below.

A big thank you to those that make it out to our sold out, first ever, Singles Mingle food tour in January! It was a lot of fun, and we’ll likely host one again due to popular demand.

The banana bread recipe is the very first recipe I ever developed. It’s tried and true and is perfect for home-baked warmth and comfort.  Enjoy!

Bon Appetit,
Angela

We will be offering an early evening tour on Valentine’s Day (4:00 – 6:00), and additional tours in the afternoon (1:00 – 3:00) during the weekend. A great gift idea as well, perfect for that special someone for a romantic date.

Featured Recipe

Classic Banana Bread

Makes 1 large loaf (8 slices)

3 or 4
overripe bananas
1
egg
¼
cup melted butter
1
cup sugar
1 ½
cups flour
1
teaspoon baking soda
½
pinch of salt
¼
cup chopped walnuts (optional)

Preheat oven to 325°.

Mash bananas using paddle attachment or a fork until thoroughly mashed.

Add egg and melted butter and mix thoroughly.

In separate bowl, combine sugar, flour, baking soda, and salt.  Add dry ingredients and walnuts to banana mixture and mix until just combined (over mixing will cause bread to be tough).

Pour into a buttered loaf pan and bake for 1 hour.  Batter can be frozen for later use.

Remove from oven and cool on cooling rack.
