Tour FAQ

Bring water, a hat or sunglasses, comfortable walking shoes, and weather-appropriate clothing. The Original Food & Culture Tour runs 2 hours and 15 minutes and primarily involves standing and walking through Pike Place Market, with limited opportunities to sit, so comfortable footwear matters more than usual.

Many of the stops on this tour have options for common dietary needs, but because the tastings are sourced from small, independent Pike Place Market vendors, not every stop can substitute for every restriction. Note any dietary needs when you purchase your ticket, and contact us beforehand if you have questions about a specific allergy or diet.

You’ll walk about 1 mile over 2 hours and 15 minutes, mostly standing, with stops at 8 tasting locations throughout Pike Place Market. Seating is limited and sporadic, so plan footwear and clothing accordingly.

The tour starts at Savor Headquarters, 2004 1st Ave, Seattle, WA, just a block from Pike Place Market. It ends within a few blocks of that starting point, and your guide will help with directions back at the end.

Children are welcome, but at 2 hours and 15 minutes with a lot of standing, it can be long for younger kids’ attention spans and stamina. Children 2 and under who won’t be eating don’t need a ticket; children 3 and up need a ticket regardless of whether they taste the food

Parts of it are difficult. Pike Place Market is a historic district with uneven cobblestones, staircases, and small, crowded shops, so strollers may not be permitted on certain stretches and wheelchairs aren’t recommended in some areas due to space and crowds. Contact us directly if you want a specific accessibility assessment before booking.

The Original Food & Culture Tour runs rain or shine. Dress for the forecast and bring an umbrella if there’s rain in the outlook. The tour won’t be cancelled for weather.

Yes. Every guide leading the Original Food & Culture Tour has completed at least 10 apprentice tours and ongoing storyteller training before leading independently. We know a guide can make or break your experience, and that’s why we invest deeply in the people who lead our tours. Our All-Star Guides go even further, earning more than 100 five-star reviews annually, volunteering in the community, and building one-on-one relationships with local vendors.

Savor Food Tours operates on a no-tipping model. The Original Food & Culture Tour’s ticket price includes a 20% service charge that is retained by Savor Food Tours. This goes toward guide wages and training, so no additional tip is expected or required. This allows us to compensate our guides with industry leading wages for their expertise and storytelling, provide ongoing training, and maintain high-quality experiences.

Because guide compensation is built into our model, no additional tip is expected or required.

Yes, cancel or reschedule with at least 48 hours’ notice for a full refund or credit. This tour requires a four-guest minimum to run; if that minimum isn’t met, you’ll get a reschedule option or full refund. No-shows are charged full price.

“The market can be overwhelming, but this tour slices right through it. We saw the fish throwing, ate the donuts, and dodged the crowds effortlessly.”
