The birds are singing, the flowers are blooming, and the days are longer. It’s hard to believe that we’re already in the month of August and more than halfway through the year! We’ve had a solid summer so far and in the tourism industry there’s still a long way to go until the end of the season. As always, we’re excited to have you come and savor the delicacies our beautiful city has to offer.
If you visit Pike Place Market you’ll see the stalls filled with bountiful fruit and vegetables, fresh albacore tuna and an abundance of bright, yellow sunflowers. The buskers, the artisans, the farmers–it’s what makes Pike Place Market and Seattle a rich and vibrant scene.
For our staff and tour guides, summer brings many wonderful childhood memories. Eating juicy nectarines, running around in the park barefoot and climbing trees, and catching crawdads with little bits of hotdog tied to strings. All of us have a special way of enjoying the summer and basking in the sun, but the one common thing among all of us is the food. Ah yes, the delicious foods that makes summer that much more special. Long gone are the days of creamy soups to keep us warm from the cold and rainy winter months. It’s summer and that means the freshest fruits and vegetables of the season.
We thought we’d share with you a favorite and simple salad recipe from our veteran tour guide and staff member, Nick Setten. As you might guess, the life of a tour guide is pretty fast paced and there isn’t a lot of time in between tours to sit down and eat. Regardless, we try our best to keep it healthy all the while supporting our partners.
