Dinner with a View: The Top 4 Restaurants to Enjoy a Seattle Sunset

Breathtaking and awe-inspiring, sunsets are one of nature’s most beautiful displays. And with summer on the horizon, the dazzling medley of pinks, yellows, blues, and reds, will only get more brilliant and impressive. Luckily, Seattle has no shortage of great spots to take in an exquisite sunset…and it just so happens that many of these spots also offer amazing food! In our humble opinion, there’s no better way to enjoy a magnificent sunset than over a delicious dinner. So, check out our top 4 picks for Seattle restaurants featuring awesome food and killer sunset views.

Duke's Chowder House Seattle Sunset View

Duke’s Chowder House – Alki Beach

Take in a dramatic Seattle sunset at Duke’s Chowder House – a waterfront restaurant located right across the street from the main entrance to Alki Beach, one of Seattle’s most popular beaches. Duke’s is the perfect blend of food, fun, and atmosphere. Serving up award-winning clam chowder, wild Alaskan salmon, and delectable burgers, plus Happy Hour twice a day, every day! Whether you’re looking for a romantic sunset dinner or just a cool spot to chill out with friends and family, Duke’s is it!  The second story terrace has spectacular views of the water and, of course, the Seattle sunset!

Sunset at Ray's Boathouse in Seattle

Ray’s Boathouse – Sunset Hill

Located at the water’s edge, Ray’s Boathouse is an iconic Seattle restaurant elevating fresh seafood to new and exciting levels. Featuring seared salmon, sake kasu marinated sablefish, and braised lamb shank, Ray’s menu is creative, unique and absolutely delicious. And with an in-house pastry team, there’s guaranteed to be some delicious sweet confections to culminate your culinary experience. If you’re looking for a different type of Ray’s experience, head upstairs to Ray’s Café for less elegant and easier-on-the-wallet eats.

And the sunsets! How could a place located on Sunset Hill not have to-die-for views?! Enjoy colorful Seattle sunsets while sipping tasty cocktails or wine from their extensive local and international vintage selection. We just love to sip on a grapefruit martini while we watch the sun slowly dip into the Puget Sound.

Nosh Food Truck – Downtown

Deliciousness on wheels! Nosh Food Truck is the home of Seattle’s best fish & chips (not just according to us, but Seattle Times and ZAGAT, too!). With 2 food trucks at different daily locations (check out their schedule here), Nosh is crushing the food truck scene with amazing selections such as fried rabbit, roasted bone marrow, meatloaf sandwiches, and cod chowder. On “Fabulous Fish Fridays,” occurring every Friday at Machine House Brewery from 5-9 pm, grab their award-winning fish & chips and a refreshing house-made raspberry & mint Arnold Palmer, then walk just two minutes down the block to Westlake Park and make your own memorable sunset picnic!

Little Coney – Golden Gardens Park

Golden Gardens is a popular public park in Seattle that includes beaches, hiking trails, picnic areas, and of course, stellar sunset views. Near the entrance to the park sits Little Coney, a quaint little café serving up traditional American food like burgers, hotdogs, ice cream and frozen yogurt. It’s the perfect place to grab the classic American combo of a burger, fries, and a milkshake before walking just 2 minutes to the beach of Golden Gardens Park. Sip your shake with your toes in the sand as you soak in the beauty of a perfect Seattle sunset.

BONUS Our Favorite Sunset Location Without a Restaurant: Kerry Park

Looking for a view of the Seattle skyline in your sunset? You’ve got to go to Kerry Park! Located on the south slope of Queen Anne Hill in Seattle, on clear nights you can even see the mountains! The Seattle city skyline, a sensational mountain view and a sunset? Yes, please! Since there are no restaurants that offer the Kerry Park view, we recommend ordering some savory wood-fired pizzas from Via Tribunali in Queen Anne (how does sausage, mozzarella, onion and basil pizza sound?), and walking just 5 minutes to the astonishing sunset views of Kerry Park. When you’re done, you can cap off the night with a visit to Molly Moon’s for some unique homemade ice cream flavors such as earl gray, honey lavender, and maple walnut. Yum!

We hope you’re inspired to seek out some Seattle restaurants with a view…because it certainly is no secret that we’re a city full of fantastic eateries and amazing sunsets. Next time you’re in Seattle, don’t forget to stop by one (or all!) of these delectable places for some fun, delicious food, and of course, stunning sunset views you’re guaranteed to never forget!
